Change is inevitable. Heraclitus, a Greek Philosopher once stated that nothing is permanent except for change. In our society today, people always see a lot of changes may it be a change of status, address or perhaps even a change of love. But one thing that has been constantly evolving and changing since the beginning of the human era is technology.

Technology has become a great influence and has made an impact in the way people live in the world today. We humans have already been captivated and enframed by the technology itself. Every single day, we can see millions of people coming from different countries in the world doing day to day activities through the internet especially in social media.

Indeed, Social media has become a very powerful platform that allows people to bring forth and translate everyday experiences in a virtual aspect. However, as much as we want to bring all the good things online, we also can’t deny the fact that some people (actually most of us) also incorporate negativity in the online world.

This negativity has brought destruction to people in different ways and aspects in life especially to people who are part of the marginalized sectors and communities in our society. There have been so many negative news, comments, and articles circulating online that are actually adding up fuel and enabling the existing toxic cultures in our society such as violence, rape culture, red-tagging, discrimination, and many more.

That’s why it’s very important for us to utilize every platform online in order to combat these issues that are encumbering our fellow human beings. Through different online mediums such as blog posts, it allows each individual to educate themselves of the current happenings in the world and gage in important and relevant discussions that could spark passion towards making the lives of other people better.

Truly, the existence of the internet has always been a double edged sword. Despite how the digital world has become a game changer in our world today, it has also caused a lot of casualties to a lot of sectors in our world. However, we still have a long way to go and our fight is definitely not over yet. As we unify our voices together, we are one step closer to a better society and a better world.
